Courier services?
« on: October 15, 2008, 09:23 »
Hi folks,

Does anyone know of any cheap courier service that could pick s couple of chucks up for me and deliver them safely to my house? I've got to pick 2 chucks up from Junct 13 of the M1 and bring them to Derbyshire but if I could arrange a courier then that would be so much easier.

Or is anyone travelling south to north at any point, and willing to help me out?  :D

Any ideas?

Hi Mick, I don't think there are any couriers left who transport live chickens anymore.  legislation and costs got too much apparently!  Amtrak I think still do pigeons, but when I contacted them, they say they don't do anything else now and the big chicken companies only transport their own stuff, can't take anyone else's becuase of bio security.

Hope you find someone who is travelling your way!! Good luck    Ann

I have a friend who runs a courier business.
As far as I know he will transport anything!

You can always ask - he's based near the Wakefield M1 junction.

I'd be very surprised if your friend transports live animals Njal.  There is just too much legislation and paperwork now.  Transport licence movement forms god knows what, oh and a Certificate of competence in moving live animals

Unless the chooks are dead of course?  then its easier as long as you have them keeping cool or frozen somehow???

Perhaps not.

He told me he transports biological samples but didn't seem to know much
about the regulations.
