Falling in love with spuds again!
« on: October 13, 2008, 11:15 »
After summer's bout with depression and more recent bronchitis, I've finally got some energy back to get onto the lotty.  Not so much to do, as I missed all the late season planting, but I've got a good head start on my winter digging!

I dug up all our remaining spuds.  Lots of pink fir apple, and some lovely King Edwards, very flavoursome.

However, for sheer profusion, good looks, and unexpected delight, the prize must go to the Desiree volunteers that were liberally interspersed among the other potatoes.  I've no idea why they were there, as there's been no Desiree on that patch for a while to my knowledge, but there they were, and they look and taste lovely.

We picked the last of the sweetcorn too.  It's not brilliant, but goes well in soups.  Last night we had allotment soup - onions, spuds, s-corn, carrots, parsnips, garlic, all from the lotty  :D

And I spent this morning's commute filling out my seed order for next year, and starting to feel good about the world and myself again.

Wish my old man would cook

Desirees are fab I reckon although I said that once and got shot down in flames    Don't care though  :D   So, glad you got some good ones too

Yeah, I was fed up this week but rounded off my crappy week by spending a whole day on the plot by myself. Well I did get fellow plotters chatting but it's great to be out on a lovely day just losing yourself in pottering, or whatever really  :D  I was really busy to-ing and fro-ing so got loads of much-need exercise too  :D
