nothing... took my onion sets and garlic yesterday to plant but ended up spending 5 hours just clearing the plot after the Rotavator cord snapped. so it is clear and the roundup has been down for 4 weeks, so Mr Rotavator will be back out next weekend.

i planted 26 garlic cloves last monday, hubby comes along on saturday and took down the runner beans, gets out his rotavator and says he is going to rotavate it which is fine until i turn round and he had took it upon himself to do an extra bit - yes the bit where the garlic was!!!

we found 10 of them and replanted them but it will be interesting to see if and where the others come up!! luckily these were spare ones that my mum had given me

I've also put in garlic, shallots and onions this weekend. Broad beans sound good - can anyone recommend a good variety for planting now?

What a fantastic gardening weekend it was here!

I've planted garlic, rocket and various salad leaves all in modules in the greenhouse. I potted on my Swiss Chard and kale seedlings.

I pulled out some of the toms that had finished, and tidied up the rest.

Meanwhile my OH dismantled three large compost bins that were in a silly place, re-built and filled two more beautiful bins in a much better location. He then filled 23 manure bags with the lovely garden compost.

Then he said he would put flooring under my potting bench in the greenhouse (it was full of all my bits and pieces on bare soil that is too dark to plant) So i was inspired to sort all my pots, seed trays, mini propogators and give them a clean. Threw away anything thats broken. It's as neat as a new pin in there and all ready for me to get started again.

Great weekend!
Liv.

I stood scratching my head wondering why the garlic, onions and shallots that I planted three weeks ago were all messed up, then realised the birds had helped themselves   should have listened to people who warned about this happening and covered it up

I had a small space left and planted some cabbage I found in a garden centre.  It will or it wont but it's always worth a try.  I've got Japanese onions, garlic, cavolo nero and perpetual spinach all doing well.....So far.
Cheese makes everything better.

This week I'll be planting out more April cabbages.  The first lot I planted has been gobbled up by slugs

Going to sow some strawberry seeds too and see how well they do for next year  :)
