Emu can´t roost
« on: October 21, 2008, 19:37 »
Every night now we have to go and lift her up onto the roost-  you would think I was going to murder her the noise she makes    I don´t mind her roosting on the ground but the other hens poo on her    I was wondering if we built a ramp would she go up it?  Any suggestions?Emu is the hen with the wonky neck :(

Aw poor Emu, as if she hasn't got enough to contend with without being pooed on  :(

I bet she'd love a ramp too. Bless  :D

i don't think being pooed on is at the the top of emu's, "i'm worried about this, list" Eddie get's pooed on by Rodney all the time, (did have to evacuate her from my bedroom in the end)  i'm just glad she's been accepted by them, (the trotters, silkies) one night i found her tucked up under his wing in the nesting box, (he usually roosts, but it was new to her) he really did have his wing covering her, it was lovely to see, i wouldn't worry about Emu not roosting as long as she seems happy, glad she's doing ok.................

They all need an umbrella Aunt Sally, its been pouring here all day (just stopped an hour ago) and the hens were daft enough to walk about outside in the pouring rain.
The hen that had the bad eye and was wheezy and is in isolation  in the garage in a big plastic box is looking much better, her eye is now open and not red/watering and she was trying to get out of the box when I took the top off the box  today.  As it is dull and dreary we have left the garage light on, so she doesn´t think it is night!! Normally the sun shines in the window- not today :(
We are going to visit my cousin tomorrow for a few days so I will update on Emu when I get back and add another photo.
