WILL I GET EGGS SOON!
« Reply #15 on: September 11, 2008, 22:28 »
hi mumsy
they are all supposed to be the same age. when we got the 2 lavanders (from a diff supplier to the sussex girls) there was a male there as well. They were being sold as a trio but we only wanted the 2 girls so we paid for the 3 but only took the girls so I will be a bit peeved if one turns out a boy in disguise lol
I shall look forward to seeing your piccies when you can load them as I havent seen any other lavanders before, just fell in love with the colour of them. hubbie wanted a couple with the punky hairdo and we sort of expected them to develop this as they got older, if not we shall just have to get some more just for him lol

Hi Mumsy
thanks for putting up piccies, your right it is difficult to tell, scary dosent have the same longer tail feathers yet that your boy had, but her neck feathers do look longer and thicker than scardies at the moment. Scardie is the bottom of the pecking order in our hen house so I think she kind of shrinks herself down a bit so the others leave her alone. She dosent get picked on any more but she did for a few days when we first had her.
I shall cross my fingers that she is a she not a he/she   :?

hi there, if she is a boy then at about now you would see long thin "pointy" feathers around the neck as apposed to thicker ones. They would also have a shine to them. I dont have araucanas but have a similar aged and colour boy developing very distinctive neck feathering. I have rather a lot of boys hatched this season!
