Crop Roation Plan
« on: August 31, 2008, 17:26 »
I have....  well had....  A good plan for next years planting from a book with told me which crop should follow what...  I now cannot find this delightful all singing plan (bet OH has 'filed' it!) and have also lent the book with the diagram to my lottie buddy...

Does anyone have a four bed rotation for potatos allium legumes and brassics knocking about to enlighten me

I have a Sunday evening to kill and lottie planning is it!!

Thanks in advance.......
Its my first year....  an I am loving it!

Is this any use?

Perhaps this one would help?

Or even this one?

Well that's one way to pass the evening  :)

I find 5 bed is more flexible but here's a few basic plans I haven't checked how valid they are.

Bed 1
Root Crops, onions
Bed 2
Legumes (peas, beans), brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts)
Bed 3
Tomatoes, eggplant, capsicum (peppers)
Bed 4
Sweet corn, curcubits (cucumber, melons, pumpkin)

======================================

1

Beans
Celery
Corn
Eggplant
Onions
Peas
Peppers
Squash
Tomatoes

2

Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Lettuce
Sweet Basil

3

Beets
Carrots
Potatoes **
Radishes
Turnips
Dill

4

Spread/ till in compost or
"green manure". Plant a cover crop.
=============================

1
root,
2
pulses
3
potatoes
4
brassicas

Thanks to you both.... I have used a variation on both and have a nice new plan for next year using growveg.com which not only has a fool proof garden draw chart but also indicates where you can / cannot plan depending upon where your previous years planting took place......

Very clever stuff but I didnt find out until after I had sat and worked it all out on paper first!!!

Never mind....
