How high or electrify?
« on: August 26, 2008, 20:12 »
As you know I lost three girls in broad daylight to an *(IO&T*&£"(* errrhem Fox.  Now I know they dont have the reputation of cunning for nothing but do you think that they will be ok behind a 105cm high electric netting fence or should I think again?
Stuart

Dont worry I am just paranoid duckie.

If I get the wrong end of the stick its because I have speed read. Honest.

Blar blar blar blar snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

You'll need to clip their wings. But I would have thought as right as rain provinding the fox follows the rules from now on.

I can well understand your anxiety!   With foxes they investigate muzzle first and do not "climb" electric fences. Even my cats are extremely wary and boy can they jump! :D
I have watched with baited breath a beautiful dogfox pad around the entire electric netting and get no closer at any point than roughly 2 feet. He came out from our wood -wandered around and sniffed a bit then just went back into the wood, that was around 8.30am. He didn't touch our birds and we didn't touch him. I have never lost a bird with the electric fencing up and thats about 3 years now.

I clipped wings today as I let the girls out from the run made with 25m of fencing, while I was about and then when I bobed out for a bit later, the three new girls (the only ones light enough to fly) flew over the fence to me.   Arrrrrrrr they do like there daddy oh and meal worms and corn.

Just had a horrible thought that a fox may be able to jump over a 105cm fence.   Thanks guys.  An extra 50m of fencing arrives tomorrow and mmmm an extra three girls may be arriving on Friday.  To every cloud...............is an electrified  fox.  Is that why they have a bushy tail?

How high? About 4 foot i jump, but dependant on the voltage. Usually with a squeal.

Oooooh. You're on about the fencing...

With wings clipped 3-4ft stops my birds so that's roughly what you've got. Through they are fat *. I swear they are little dumpsters and destroyers. They have done a grand job as replacement lawnmowers. Too good in certain areas.

Cross thread chat.  Foxy is this when you connected the electric to his lamp?  If it is then no wonder he jumped in the air.  Poor man and you have only just landed him.
