Grapes being eaten by bees

My beautiful grapes, ripe for eating - I can't get near them because of dozens of donkey bees (hornets I think) methodically eating their way through them all for the last 3 days.  Any suggestions - if I try pesticide will they attack me?

I didn't know any variety of bee would 'eat' fruit, I thought that was only wasps... well I think that's right in the UK anyway.

Sorry, don't know the answer for you but hopefully someone will be along with some help shortly for you
