Just wondering when i can dig my maincrop potatoes up? Would now be too soon??

It is a bit early....I would say September or when all the haulms have died back.....or you can try now but I think the spuds may be a bit on the small side.

Also if you dig them up before they are mature they won't store as well.

Depends, which sort, at what stage - the plant will tell you -, past flowering , foliage going yellow , you might as well, otherwise , as said.

I dug up all my early main crop this week and am happily sitting on a nearly 100kg of spuds.

Late main crop, still in the green, some just flowering, that stays put, till blight says otherwise.

Once the foliage goes marky, they won't grow much more.
