pinky red leaves on cabbages - why?

Although my growing cabbages look very healthy, a couple of them have base leaves turning pinky red ....which looks all wrong. I suspect I have a problem with lack of something or other for the cabbages, but can anyone give me some advice?

Can't offer advice on your cabbages I'm afraid, but I grew up in Hanworth, just up the road from you.

Someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

Sounds like a phosphorous deficiency, possibly. Try some tomato fertiliser or add some superphosphate.
