Hello,

Can anyone tell me if CWB eggs are in clumps and yellow?
I seem to have these on my broccoli leaves and little holes as well.

Charlotte.

I think that CWB eggs are usually laid one at a time so hard to spot.  certainly I only ever see one caterpillar at a time on my cabbages so this would stand to reason.

I think that clumps of yellow ones could possibly be ladybird eggs

Do they look like these? they are ladybird eggs

Sorry Suzi,

Cabbage whites lay in clusters, that's why your brassicas end up crawling with their caterpillars.

cabbage white eggs
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

No there are two of them, the lesser white which is in season now here, lays singly and has naked greeen caterpillars.

Thanks for that link DD, I have a few of them on my cabbages and sprouts. I pick them off and lob them into the field next door.

You make sure they are not the different shape as in Snoozi's link, even though she is not a mod. :D

The link suggests that you should cover with fine netting.

I have enviromesh, but how long do they need to be covered for.
Do cabbage whites stay around till the frosts arrive.

Thanks for that I have them on my cabbages as well but it was shortly after seeing a cabbage white fluttering around it so assumed they were caterpiller larvae. Should they be squished or could they be the friendly ladybirds as opposed to the evil ones?

Compare the shapes. Also, I think, ladybirds will lay near food source, if you have no aphids nearby, they are likely to be caterpillars on brassica.
