Black fly on runner beans
« on: July 07, 2008, 13:38 »
have got black fly on runners particularly in young flowers. I am spraying
with water only as beans are underplanted with salad crop.  Is it better to
use some Wshing up liquid, and if so in what proportion to the water, or is
there something better to do?  thanks.  Mrs Bouquet. :(

Washing up liquid,  a good squirt of liquid (stronger than you'd wash up with should do it).  I use soft soap at about a 2% solution.

Thanks for that, I've got exactly the same problem I noticed this morning. How often will you need to keep spraying them do you think?

Just keep your eyes on it and you don't need to spray all the plants, just the bits with blackfly on :D
