I picked a Cabbage for our dinner today which seemed ready. When cut in half it was all stalk and looked under developped? The heart felt hard when i tested it, have i done something wrong?



Maybe ive pulled it to early? Sorry dont know the variety as my father in law purchased these.

youve done nothing wrong , picked your cabbage a little too early , maybe another 4-6 weeks you could try feeding them with a general purpose feed

Looks a rather large core to me, might it have started to run to seed? What is the size of head?

The head as cut in the pic was/is about 6 inches across and maybe 8 inches tall.

How will i know if its gone to seed?

Well, if you have a very close look to see whether those little things in the top are more like flowerbuds then leaves, might as well be from where I'm sitting.

feed em sulphate of ammonia a couple weeks before ya wana feed from em ,,,,, just feed the ones ya gonna use
