Just curious, i live on the edge of a village and have a big field at the back of my house. I was thinking of asking the farmer if i could rent a small bit of grass to put a pen on. He keeps sheep and cows and varies which is in the field also i know he rents the farm and fields off someone else. Does anyone else rent space and if so how much would i expect to pay (that is if he agrees).

There could be a prob about poultry, defra rules on farming land, might sound daft but since the flu probs things have been tightened up on the poor farmers.  I could be wrong though, will be interested in what the others may say.

No idea about your specific question, sorry. I go round asking everyone I come across if they have a bit of land spare - so far no joy!!

A friendly bloke who i recently met  in my village keeps chickens and has offered a patch on his land, which i think is very generous. Its about 5 mins walk from home and im seriously thinking its a positive step towards me getting chickens. If John reads this thats a very generous offer and i think i may take you up on it..
