A hen has discovered that if she flies up and sits on top of the compost bin she can eat the plums growing on the tree that overhangs the compost bin.    I got her off the bin and she flew straight back up to carry on eating!  So today I am picking the fruit to make jam   Hens are certainly not daft creatures.

I picked about 10kg had to give up cos the girls were all about my feet waiting for their share   There were planty of plums with brown holes from insects so they got them.  They must be happy cos I got 9 out of 10 lay today....... now, where is the family who bought eggs last week?  I need them back, I´ve got about 40 eggs in the fridge again :shock:   Pamela

What a treat for them! Mine used to live in a paddock with several plum trees andloved it when they began to fall! There were several different types, all fruiting in succession so they really pigged out for a few months!

No such luck here as our fruit trees are still quite small and so the hens aren't living near them!
