My poorly tomato leaves
« on: June 17, 2008, 09:03 »
Can anyone help with advice about my toms?

They are in a greenhouse and seem to be growing really well, but the leaves on all my plants are going yellow.

Some are much more severe than this and some have shrivelled up and died completely.

Could this is a nutrient problem if so which one? The fruit has set now so I am starting to feed with standard tomato feed and the fruits are swelling well.

Any ideas?

Hi

Once they have gone yellow are the spots drying out and ending up like tissue paper?

If they are it could well be what happened to me.  Sun pours in our greenhouse and the leaves were wet and they were literally sunburnt.

Since this happened I painted the glass with diluted emulsion (advice given on this forum) to prevent direct rays of the sun - still really warm in there though - and the plants have been fine ever since.

They are growing away really nicely and first flowers are now coming.

Hope this helps if not there are far more experienced folk on this site who will probably be able to provide you with an answer.

cheers

Yes thats right. so its just too hot in there then? I have roof vents but no protection from the sun itself, just lots of lovely clear glass.

if sun damage I gues some sort of shading is in order then..

Thanks

I also have old net curtains on the lower windows - painted roof.  Glad to have been able to help - new to all of this and you are the first person I've been able to help - you've made my day

willnbirdie, you got 2 for the price of 1 :-)

I noticed yellow spots this morning, will be looking out a net curtain!
