I've searched the asparagus threads and read that crowns would usually be planted in spring.

The July edition of GYO has an advert for crowns that are ready for delivery now. Is it not a bit too late? Or will they be ok?

Also, on Thompson and Morgan, they have crowns for delivery Oct/November. Can you plant em then?

Spring is the usual planting time, though you may be OK with Autumn - that's when I had to put my grown-from-seed crowns in as they had rooted through the tarmac drive.

I do find it unusual that there are crowns for delivery now, as they should have been in the ground throwing spears at passers by! Or maybe that's just me!
