The ONLY drawback to living in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains is that June can produce the most terrible midge problem. Damp warm and still conditions are torture.

Would these pesky midges be bothering my new chooks. When they are bad i can't even get out to see the effect on my girls.

Anyone know?
Liv.

Don't know about the chickens, but I have to cover myself in citronella oil at this time of year, or I end up all Itchy & Scratchy  :?   Specially when its so warm and so wet all at once - they are everywhere in the garden
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!

I would imagine it'll give the chooks somethign to chase and eat. They chase any other fly.  :)

I remember the midges in the Peaks. Nasty things when you wear a t shirt.

You need some Avon Skin So Soft oil
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
