Hen's egg burial

Hi,

I know this is a strange query but when I emptied a pot of crocus bulbs I discovered that a hen's egg had been buried in it, the same has happened to my neighbour - what kind of animal would do this - fox? Squirrel?

We are absolutely intrigued............

I found a hen's egg in a little pile of bark chippings I had left out a couple of years ago and I was puzzled too, have no idea how it could have got there.

My Jack Russel used to pinch eggs and bury them in the garden

Almost certainly a fox. You are fortunate that you didn't find it with a spade
