Look what the Little Rotters did at my shop in Devon the other week!
We invited the Little Rotters from the local primary school to use our surf shop & cafe deck area to put their hard work to good use. We've all sorts growing there now including peas, toms, nasturtiums, lavender, rosemary and all sorts of pretty hanging baskets.
I'll post some more photos soon showing how well everything has grown already - these were taken a couple of weeks ago.

Bit more about the rotters in case anyone wants to start something similar in their areas....
The Little Rotters is a School Compost Club just starting up at Caen Primary School, Braunton, North Devon. The aim of the Club is for children to learn about composting and ultimately reducing waste in their environment There will be about 5-6 children in the club at one time. (children will join the club on a rota basis). Small bins will be placed around the school and playground to collect fruit, peelings and paper towels. There is a central composter in the garden area of the school. The duties of the Little Rotters will be to collect up the small bins every day. They will weigh the bins to keep a record of our school waste and then empty them into the composter. The compost will be put back into the garden. The Little Rotter will feed back to the school what they have been doing and what they have learnt, via assemblies and notice boards.
