I have some sets which have started to sprout in the bag.

Is it too late to plant?

Quite a few of the growers on our site have just planted theirs over the last few days so they should be fine

The trouble is you really want to plant earlier and get as many leaves on the plant as you can before June 21st as this is when they start to bulb.

You should get onions planting this late,but only smaller ones.

Does this also include onions from seed  :?:  I've already planted my sets and they seem to sprouting nicely but I've not yet planted the ones I grew from seed, they're still hardening off. Am I too late

It's the same with onions from seed too.

As onions are day length sensetive,i.e they grow their leaves up until the longest day and then start to bulb once the days start to shorten.

So the more leaves you can get on by June 21st the bigger the onion you'll get.

Thanks for that vegmandan, I'll plant 'em up this weekend. Never done anything like this before so fingers crossed
