all 5 seam to be doing fine!

the wyandottes are laying when they feel like it not many days when i dont get 1 egg but not many days when i get two.

the pekin and the other cross i have look and seam well, not laying as yet but cant see the blue pekin being to long now, think the other 2 may still have a way to go yet

im not so sure if the pekins are eating the layers pellets tho, theres 3 in there and the food doesnt seam to be going down in the hopper tho, may just be me!

im feeding them corn too and a few greens so they are not going without food but wondering what else i can give them in place of the layers?

thanks

nathan

I know Aunt Sal will give the definitive on this but I think that they will eat the layers pellets if you gave them nothing else. They prefer treats though and will happily eat those in favour of pellets. Pellets contain everything they need so you want them to eat those. Just continue giving the mixed corn and the greens to supplement the pellets.

I'm sure AS will put you right when she gets here  :D

If it was me I'd stop the corn completely for a week or two. Layers is all they need.
Giving the corn is a treat or a winter warmer, given about an hour before bed and a handful between 4 hens is plenty.IMHO, and don't forget too many starchy treats will make them fat, fat hens lay less and are more prone to prolapse of the vent.  :(

Absolutly right Richy and Compostqueen.

Give them layers pellets and greens, ONLY give them a little treat and I mean little in the late afternoon.
