I have had Mabel and Abigail for 3 days now and they have laid me 7 eggs! Am thrilled.
However, I am concerned about how much they eat! They have about 3 large double handfuls of layers pellets and I have given them various left over veg bits and pieces too! As they are still setling in, they haven't been out of their tiny run-which has wood chips, so they aren't free ranging yet. Every time I offer them food, they woolf it down like they have been starving. Should I keep feeding them until they stop...or would they just keep eating as much as I give them. They are ex battery hens-but were on a farm for about 3 months before I had them, so they have been used to free ranging all day.

My hens have a big container of layers pellets available ALL the time.  It won't make them fat !
