Shed or Locker?
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:25 »
I have recently taken on a small plot (50 feet by 24 feet), I have been looking at metal sheds (seem more secure and are cheaper than the wooden ones) but as space is rather limited would it be worthwhile considering the baby shed/lockers that are available - about 6 feet tall, 20 inches by 28 inches wide/deep.

If I got the baby shed would I regret it and need a proper shed - any advice is welcome.

I can chain the wheelbarrow to the fence so should just have to store spade, fork etc.  I don't have a rotovator (don't think I'll need one for the size of the plot).

Thanks

Might be a bit prone to falling over - you can get wide ones, or you could get an old chest freezer and put a padlock on it then disgise it with some old fertiliser bags or something.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I was thinking of securing it to the fence as well as the floor. There is a heavy duty metal fence that runs along the back of the plot.

So size wise I should be ok?

That should be OK for your tools and a folding chair. Not much good for drinking tea in though but better than nothing!

Even a shed 6x6 would be a great advantage,i went 2 years on my plot with out one, fortunately, before my time the committee had the foresight to turn a vacant plot into a shed compound,so there are no sheds on the actual plots.

That is a cool idea, can't see that happening where I am the council would lose the rent but I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if that was an option.
