Going on what nature would do & that is scatter the seeds very soon - I'd bang them in!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I was Googling around when I saw your question, someone said it's like growing onions for two years, so I would think not next year!

Hi Chrissie, if I were you I would put the seeds in a mix of sharp sand and compost in pots and then just leave. Next year they will come up like lillies do very small. The year after the bulbs should be large enough to move to their permenent     bed. Good luck, they are one of my favourites. I collect the really old perfumed varieties and love every one of them. Jan

I collect the old perfumed jonquils mainly. Geranium, pheasants eye, stilton, early cheer and yellow cheer just to name a few. even one or two of the small ones are perfumed. I specialise in perfume at home. If you could smell my garden now. You can't even smell my dogs loo!!! If you are interested pm me and I'll send you a prpper list. My Mum & Dad always loved them too. so do I.
