do you own your home? it may have a covenant (is that the right word) in your deeds that you cant keep poultry or pigs.

its always a good idea to just move them in, if you have close neighbours dont get a boy, and if no one complains...then hey ho

i just got mine, didnt even consider it might not be allowed. fresh eggs to the neighbours (not the cow next door but one) and everyones happy.

We are the same. We decided we wanted chickens and went for it. My friend got me really worried the other day tho. There had been someone on GMTV who got fined £7000 and told to get rid of the chickens. She later found out that this bloke had 100. Panic over. I figure a few chickens is no worse than having a dog barking.

Might be worth a quick telephone call to your council to check. Can't imagine there'd be any probs. As babe said, there could be a covenant in your deeds but they were usually written when animal keeping was the norm and not just as pets.
If you don't think they're going to be a nuisance then they probably aren't, in which case there should be no objections.
Just watch out for excessive smells, rodent infestations and don't get cockerals. All very avoidable.  :)

Good luck and enjoy.

Rob
