What kind of disinfectant is safe to use around hens?  I want to give the paving stones on the sort of patio area a god clean, but I do not want to poison the hens!

Also at the moment (until the eglu arrives) we have a wooden coop, what should I use to clean inside that?  Thanks

you can buy proper stuff, and you can use cider apple vinegar (the one for poultry)

For the hard surfaces, you can use Virkon-s but it I think it needs to dry before they go on it again.
For inside the house, Poultry Shield is reccomended. There may be alternative products with similar qualities but they kill off all the nasties.

I think Virkon claims to be safe if they do come into contact but I left it to dry last time I did it. It does pretty much what Jeyes fluid does but it breaks down into harmless substances after it's been used.
