My chooks have got really red bald bums. They are Blackrocks and someone told me it sometimes happens and is nothing to worry about but I'm not too sure. Does anyone know what causes it and what it might be?

I've been told in the past that it can be a sign of good health, like having colour in your cheeks.

Ah...

As Babe said - Why have they come out ?

When their skin is naked it can look red sometimes as Bodger said and other times pale.  Keep an eye on it, any worries take a piccie to show us  :D

evie had a very red bum, its now a mid pink and has started to get fluff.

they should feather up again alot quicker than you'd imagine.

i am still keeping her bottom purple sprayed, to make sure no one else is tempted to have a peck while its still vulnerable
