We have been over the lotty this morning and Dad went down 2 spade depths and found the water table on our land - no wonder it gets water logged so quickly.  So he dug through the clay a bit so my girls could have a bit of a well on the plot - they thought this was fantastic and started making goodness knows what out of the dug out clay.

far better way to spend the first day of the school hols than sat in front of the TV. they've made a den, dug a well and made clay things
