How are your new girls settling?
« on: February 26, 2008, 07:59 »
Hello just wondering how everyones newbies are settling?

I've got 3 who seem really well and are great but one who just wants to sit in the coop!  She's made herself a rather cozy next by nicking all the straw from the nest boxes and is just sitting in there!  Every 2-3 hours i pick her up and put her in the run so she will at least drink and eat a little but its 10 mins before she back in the coop. She's also the smallest and baldest of the 4 ex batts. The biggest gal (Mrs Bennet) seems to be picking on her a little too :?   Now is she just a little broody - should i worry?

Apart from that they are behaving like normal chickens already - they LOVE grapes, perch on anything they can get on, scratch the grass up beautifully, they even put themselves to bed for the 1st time yesterday and i've had 6 eggs in 3 days! They don't seem as poorly as i'd prepared myself for!

 :D
1 x hubby
2 x daughters
3 x chickens
1 x bunny
6 x african snails  . . . . . and counting.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Its only a little bit but they've obviously been pecked    What should I do?  Will they just work things out?
