Good evening everyone,   
the strawberry patch is looking sooo healthy after cutting them back a few weeks ago.  I'm continuing to cut off runners as they appear but does removing them cause the strawb' plants just to send out more than ever in retaliation ?

My patch (around 9 square metres) is about 20 years old and despite annual re-rooting of runners etc was not very productive so I decided to dig it all up and start again with brand new plants

Hi Tony,
think if they are still growing then more runners will be produced but cutting them off close to the main plant when they are short should reduce energy spent.
I try and keep them to the original plants but have just cut off potted ones ready for a new bed next year.
Some of mine have flowered again but they might be perpetual ones.
