Lovely sunshine this morning and  The goose is sitting with the gander standing guard, the new amberlinks from Grannie~Annie have settled in and laid the first egg , the cockerels are showing off and trying to claim the new birds but they are just too fast and clever for them. Those amberlinks are a credit to Annie, so placid and well behaved and come when called !  dont mind being handled at all and have settled in so quickly

This is Henry doing his best to impress

and Kellogs

Richard on guard duty at the nursery door....

With the amberlinks being nosey

and the first egg !

and breakfast

and Kellogs looking purposeful..

Wow, brilliant pictures  :D  :D
Happiest in the countryside.
Breathe deeply, and let the butterflies fly in formation!

Thanks Viv, although it was very sunny and that helps, plus the birds are looking well lately, the cockerels were quite faded when we got them..

PS

Just been digging ready for planting veg later and the amberlinks are following me round gobbling up worms. I think they are playing at seagulls to my tractor.......

LOL Stree, I'm glad the Amberlinks are settling in nicely, and not letting those cockerals get away with any cheekiness!!!!!

And hopefully the rest will start to lay soon!!

They should be even glossier after today, mainly a meat diet! Worms and woodlice following me round as I was digging . Think of all those essential oils !  Mind you I think they were probably more essential to the worms........
I decided to dig over a plot thats unused in the garden  for veg growing and fence it off from the birds...Good size about 30 feet by 9 feet..... and dig in the poultry manure/compost that has accumulated. The people before me just piled it up and never used it, so its about 5 foot high 12 foot long and 3 foot wide and well rotted to black soil at the bottom...Gets lots of straw in it as well from the geese bedding. So with best of intentions and a fair wind I set to fork it over....Ouch............ Just discovered that under the 30 foot by 9 foot of soil is 30 foot by 9 foot of concrete 2" thick..........Well there was this morning but all gone now.. so next thing is to dig out trenches for the manure and then backfill. More fun for the birds.........

Yes Auntie, I'm really pleased with everyone's comments about the Amberlinks!!!!  All my customers are happy with their chooks, and even Rob is getting used to being 'hen pecked' !!!!!!!!

Munty said his 12 are settling in well up in chilly Scotland too!!!!  The girls have so far gone to Scotland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and somewhere else, but can't think where for the minute!!!!
