Christmas potatoes

I planted last year potatoes for Christmas, but when I felt ill and had pacemaker operation, I haven't got to my allotment to take them up last time I see them they was doing well potato plants if they've been left in the ground will they grow new potatoes this year?? Thanks are you?

They usually grow an awful lot of top growth, with lots of tiny potatoes underneath, if you leave them. Mind you with the freezing weather we had, they may just have rotted away. The ones I left in tubs did :(.
