I'd leave them be, twirl the stems over other stems if you have to.. the forming squash need as many leaves as they can to fatten/ripen them up IMO

Just tidied my trombonchino up as is has a few yellow leaves and signs of powdery mildew.
Squash are fairly tolerant to attacks with the kitchen scissors , the key thing is to not cut strong stems with fruit in the maze !
Bearing in mind that the first hard frosts will soon hammer the plants any nuisance runners in the wrong place without fruit  set can IMO safely be removed.
