Rescued a Le-Jo 'Tomato Tamer' professional slicing machine from going to landfill today:

which seems like quite an expensive bit of kit:

But apart from making 1000's of toamato sandwiches, pizzas, etc., I am beginning to wonder if I really have a use for it (makes approx 5mm slices).

If you really don't want it, put it on ebay. Someone will pay you for it!

dear lord, I haven t seen one of those machine since I was at school ( they managed to find all the random useless gadjets you can think).
unless you are working in a catering company dealing with 1000's of plates needing sliced tomatoes, that machine is ......... a waste of space.
the blades are a nightmare to sharpen too.
sure you can have fun trying other vegetables than the rocommended tomato.

I was wondering how they sharpened the blades - otherwise squished tomatoes :?

The only additional uses I've thought of are slicing loads of cooked beetroot prior to pickling (better plant loads), slicing boiled potatoes for loads fried breakfasts (bet I don't get them!), and for preparing apple for making apple crisps in the dehydrator.

A small catering company would be very glad of it.  They are too expensive for the little companies to buy, if you do your home work you will soon find one that would be glad of it.  You will be doing them a favour and earning yourself some dosh.  How bad is that.
Sandwich rounds, party, mobile stalls wedding caterers. the list is endless.  Let us know how you get on.  Must be worth £30-£50 bye the way.
