Strawberry Runners
« on: June 14, 2022, 13:21 »
The fruits on my first year Strawberry plants are just turning red. I've pick once, not millions, but enough and very nice too. There are also numerous "runners" growing out of the mother plants. Being first year plants do I cut them off? And wait for later produced runners? Or leave them on and pot-on accordingly? Thanks.

If you need more plants I’d leave the runners on and get them rooted so you can cut them away from the main plant ASAP. Just make sure you remove any runners that are surplus to requirements. Having said that, I left my 1st year strawberries to produce runners last year which have rooted all over and the original plants are still massive and producing a great crop at the moment along with a fair few from the runners.
