I have never enjoyed driving, I regard it as a necessary evil.  I haven't driven at night for a couple of years and don't miss it.   However, I can't wait to get the ok to drive as I've realised how much I treasure my independence.

I'm not interested in those things, but for me they are functional for an objective, such as having a social life, which is important if you don't have a romantic partner, live alone, and live 240 miles from family.

I don't tend to drive to social events, I use my bicycle for local journeys, even at night and in winter.

I enjoy driving & would hate to have to stop, I never minded night driving but have found after lockdown that I am a bit more wary of it after getting out of practice but I’m determined to not let it become something I can’t/ won’t do. I’m considerably younger than Mr S so feel it’s important to carry on with these things for our continued independence as we get older.

Sorry, that was sent to me as a joke, I put it in the wrong place.
I do still drive, but haven't done so in the dark for a good while now.   Walking in the dark in the Village can be dodgy as well because there are no pavements or lights and some too fast traffic.    Mrs B

joking or not Mrs B I hate driving at night  that could be because I'm not used to driving very far at night and driving in winter conditions makes me think do I need to be driving in these conditions when there's actually no need to go out with the car it was bad enough when I had to go to work in the car early in the morning before the gritters had started spreading

its funny because I was a HGV driver for 40 odd years driving 20 odd tonnes round the country and I even did night driving [night trunk] from Northampton to Tebay services to change over with the Scotch drivers in the winter months  and yes I don't like leaving the house with our lovely log fire on a cold winters night when we go to the local history society and the gardening club but that's only twice a month  :D and I love to get home back against that lovely log fire :D :D

My mum no longer drives at night; she finds the glare difficult to manage. Seems eminently sensible to me
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I don't like driving at night these days either!

The few occasions in recent months were for emergencies so I had to, but just to go up the village for fish and chips, or even the local historical society stuff is certainly out these days!

For me it's going out at night as I'm done by the end of the day!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Another issue, is that I'm not interested in doing the larger jobs around the house, where in the past, I would have done the lot, like fitting a new shower, or big kitchen units!

Just have to face it, I can't these days, and seeing how well the chaps did to put our shower in, including some fabulous tiling, I've got to learn to pace myself and say 'NO'!

Painting's OK, but as long as a decent ladder is there...

I know that feeling all too well, Growster  ::)
I've had to learn to do what I can, rather than what I used to be able to do.
It's a very hard lesson to learn, though - isn't it?

It sure is, Mum!

BTW, if you do the CPL coal survey, you can get 10% off your next coal order!

It doesn't take long, and is mainly gobbledegook anyway!

(I get Andrew Oliver to hoik all the bags high up on top of the bunker, like we're discussing, I can't lift a 25kg bag easily these days! He really is a great bloke)!

Days are getting longer hooray !
