Foxy , thanks for your note of concern, I found out about their barmy predilection for polystyrene when I insulated my workshop ( the big green thing ) and they would be drawn to the polystyrene as if by a magnet. Soon put a stop to that though... So bearing that in mind I have clad every last bit of it with plywood so none on show at all.

Glad you liked the chandelier. I have other plans for the place as well
PS the geese have a raised platform with a straw bed under the chickens dropping board, sounds unromantic I know but its very cosy and all works well.

Here is Richard and Judy

And Poultrygeist, I don't mind if you tell everyone that my chickens don't like Rob!!!!  I've decided its the paint splattered trousers!!!!!

I tried Munty's corn-in-the-pocket trick and it kept them busy while I tidied up and so far they've calmed down a bit. But they're getting VERY vocal so fingers crossed they'll be popping them out like...erm..erm..eggs!

Rob (still wearing the trousers!)

And I like the chandelier Stree. Might get one ourselves. Maybe IKEA will start a 'coop' range of furniture. Dread to think what they'll call it though.

Been busy today getting a home ready for the new Amberlinks from Granny~Annie ( Hope her cold is better ! )
This is the hen house I cleaned out and lined with polystyrene then covered with plywood inside.  Mended the door on it, and the gate to the run, and put a catch on it  cleaned all the ground in the run from various bits of rubbish wire and nails and broken plastic etc. made a sand bath, set out a water trough, got a new grain feeder, fresh straw in the run and the 2 nest boxes and fresh woodshavings for the hen house floor....
Going to put some old branches in the run so they can have a perch out there as well

Hi Stree and welcome to our merry little band!

I've still got some POL's but they are going fast!  I reckon at this rate, they'll all be gone by the end of next week, even the 2 dozen I was keeping for myself!!! lol  but I am getting some more!!

ermmm!! yoo hoo grannie.   all gone?????

I havent forgotten you Babe, but I'm being pressurised by Brian.  After Monday we will have 4 left, excluding a rather small hen that looks a bit mopey, the cockerel and the he/she Rosemary, who doesn't know what she is!   I've even had to sell the 2 dozen I wanted to keep for myself!

I was going to call you, but my friend gave me herrotten cold and cough last week so I feel really rough at the moment, in fact I'm just going to bed!!!!

BUT, you said you and Mumsy are coming up in the summer?????   Well, if you make it the end of June or July, you can pick out the ones you want out of the new lot which we are getting in a week or so!!!!!   How does that sound?????  They will be younger then, but at the moment, I can't get the others down to you.

And Poultrygeist, I don't mind if you tell everyone that my chickens don't like Rob!!!!  I've decided its the paint splattered trousers!!!!!

no worries grannie, we'll come down even if there's no chooks to adopt.

absolutely great that you've managed to rehome all 300. seems so long ago that you first got them  :)

a goose and a gander came with the house...... been looking for a water feeder for the hen house and advice on the 2 eggs that the goose has laid this morning !

Hi there Stree. :)

If you got 2 goose eggs in one day then maybe your gander is telling fibs!
