sorry another strawberry question
« on: February 16, 2008, 18:13 »
To make the most of my new polytunnel has well as cherry tom's in baskets I thought I might try growing strawberries in those folwer pouch things, I could also put one up at home too.

Question is has anyone else tried this and how many plants should each bag have?? I have also seen someone use growbags (i thought on this site but can't find the thread) has anyone tried this with success.

Promise no more strawberry questions

I recall someone using growbags for strawbs but the plants were garbage after the first year. They demand more water than you realize and those bags, including the hanging flower thing you mention, just can't hold water well. You'd need to water every day and probably add some general fertilizer since adding any compost or manure would make them too heavy.

can succeed, but not worth it , serious watering problems, as said.
