I have lots of saffron in pots around by garden. It all looks very healthy but I havent got a single flower! What am I doing wrong?

Same with mine this year   

I think it is weather related as we had a strange mix of alternating heat and wet this year.  Mine is in a raised bed, but I must admit I am thinking of digging it out this winter and using the space for something else.  It was in pots and I was thinking of returning to that method, but now you have got me wondering whether that is worth it

I had 3 flowers on my 30 bulbs this autumn but I only planted it last summer.  I’m hoping for a better result next year.

I was gifted my saffron corms by Surbie (a previous member of the forum) & I think she blogged that hers did better in the ground. I had 3 times as many flowers & stamens  this than the last, that is 1 had 3 flowers lol. I’m thinking I might move them to the sides of my new poly tunnel when I get it as a permanent bed planting & see if the yield increases
