To tip or not ?
« on: December 16, 2020, 11:56 »
My Mother always tipped the dustbin refuse collectors.   She said if one didn't, they would drop refuse on to the drive/pathway.     This has been something I have always done.  My boys are very good and have been on the round for years.   This year I have bought them a box of "Heroes"  to share,  because I think that is what they have been.
The paper-boy has been delivering to me for a few years as well,  so he always gets a few £'s for always turning out in the rotten weather.
I think they are worth it.     regards,   Mrs Bouquet

I agree MB. Collecting bins in all weathers is not a particularly nice job but what would we do without them? I don't get a daily paper delivered but I'd tip them as well.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I try to nip out on the last bin day before Christmas with a batch of mince pies for our bin men, never have a paper so don’t have that issue, but my children both had paper rounds & it was rather lucrative at Christmas for them I recall.

We gave to our bin men (and woman) during the first lock down and we were looked after.  We have bought them a 'yard of Jaffa cakes' from the Co-op this evening. We tip the post lady at work as she is the only one that we know of that is consistent.  What happens at home we can't say as we're not there.

Binmen and postman, tip anyway but they have gone above and beyond during lockdown.  Kids all had paper rounds when they were younger, because of  catching  the dreaded school bus they were out at the crack of dawn and did very well at Christmas.

I’ve gone against my usual tradition as I previously posted & bought a big bag of celebrations to share as I might be out on Tuesday when we have our last collection before Christmas. I shall put them on the top of the bin if they’ve not been before I go out
