Bath on our allotment
« on: February 16, 2008, 13:41 »
We've inherited a bath on our allotment, and I would like suggestions as to suitable plants to grow in it - I was thinking maybe strawberries or savoy cabbages to stop the slugs and other nasties getting to them.

If you had a bath, what would you grow in it ?

Thanks Annie, a really dopey question here (I am new to this) - do the carrot fly fly onto the plants or do they incubate in the soil ?

They'll do both, mostly eat into the root shoulders that stick out of the ground and also lay their eggs in the soil. A bath would put the carrots out of their low flying and smelling range.
Slugs would only climb up the bath legs regardless.
