Tundra Cabbage
« on: December 01, 2020, 13:05 »
Hi All, Just a quick question regarding the cabbage I have grown this year. Previously I have grown Minicole and they have been crisp and juicy lovely cooked or raw, but the Tundra cabbage that I have grown this year, whilst crunchy are not at all sweet, in fact rather unpleasant to eat. Do you think the wildly fluctuating temperatures we had earlier this year could have had an effect, they've grown really well but arent good to taste! I always understood that Tundra was a good sweet winter cabbage.

I grow Tundra  every year but don't eat them before Christmas. Perhaps a few frosts will sweeten them a bit?

Tundra has Savoy cabbage in its breeding and these always have stronger taste, than the sweet summer varieties like Minicole.

thanks, there's hope yet then! looks like there are some good sharp frosts on the way so I'll try again afterward
