PSB in containers
« on: August 19, 2020, 13:05 »
Because of very successful germination I have a lot of PSB. Most have been potted on into my 50L potato containers as they became free but because of space 1 has ended up in a smaller pot. The pot is only about 15L but the plant is now about 18". I have never tried potting a plant on of this size and dont know if it can be done without damaging it.

Should I leave it be in it its slightly small pot or try and repot it?

If the advise is to repot it should I do it the conventional way, upside down with a good tap, or is there a better technique for a larger plant?

The 15L pot that it is in is plastic and old so I could sacrifice it and cut the plant out of it.

Can anyone out there advise please

I'm not very good at litres of pots.  How high and far across is it?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

It is a 34cm plastic pot. I had to fill one with water to get the volume as I am not very good with volume either.

I think it may struggle in a pot of that size, as PSB is a tall plant and is likely to become top heavy.

I'd just use the usual technique and firm it in well in the new pot.  Don't disturb the roots more than you have to.

I could bury the pot in a larger pot to stabilize it without disturbing the roots at all but I dont know how it will do confined to a 34cm pot.

If you're taking the rootball out of one pot and just putting it into another, larger, pot then you're not disturbing the rootball much.
