Seeds in Spain
« on: June 25, 2020, 16:45 »
I had a 17 pole allotment in the UK, for years, grew stuff with no problems

Moved to Spain, and I cant get anything to grow.

Ive been trying to grow chillis, tomatoes and peppers  from seeds, starting in seed trays or shallow pots. Everything germinates, throws out the first pair of leaves....and stops. Nothing grows any bigger than two leaves.  Actually i got some green peppers to 4 leaves, then they stopped.

The weather is hot ,sunny, and i water every day. But nothing gets past stage one.

Why cant i get anything to go ?

Hi there  ;)
When I lived in Greece I found that all seedlings had to be grown on the shady side of the house, or under shade netting, until they were big enough to gradually acclimatise to full sun/heat.
I know that because of the heat things do need careful watering, but are you unintentionally keeping things sodden, so that the roots rot.
