Runner beans
« on: May 04, 2020, 15:25 »
I started these off in tiny little biodegradable pots. They need to go out into the patch really but worried about the cold snap coming up. Any advice?

Yes, very cold sensitive.  Sowed mine in root trainers yesterday.  Pot yours on if necessary and harden off before planting out.

Just give them enough room so you can separate the roots when they do go out (don't worry if you 'accidentally' poke your fingers through the peat pots - they can be slow to break down if planted out intact and restrict root growth.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Wednesday is showing lows of 3oC is that still too low for them to be out unprotected?

Wait for a few days - 3C is too low, and in the range where you could even get a ground frost if the wind drops.

If you haven't done so already, you could start hardening them off during the day when the temperatures do recover a little.
