The previous owner of my plot left a huge 25kg bag of fertiliser in the shed. It's got no information on it about what it's good for, apart from the breakdown of it's components.  Can anyone let me know how best I should use it please?:

Compound fertiliser no 8.
9-4-10
Nitrogen 9%
Phosphorus 4%
Potassium oxide 10%
Magnesium oxide 5%
Sulphur trioxide 25%

Cool! That's good to know as my potato feed order was it if stock.

Stupid question, but do I just chuck it in the soil and mix it in, or do I have to mix it in with water?

Just spread it on and mix it in, the rain and moisture in the soil will do the rest!

i tend to agree  with what's  been said because i use a balanced fertilizer when planting my potatoes and have done for many years

I usually get a handful of fert and chuck it up the row or farrow before planting the potatoes never had any probs with potatoes growing only blasted slugs

Make sure you have moisture, we don't. it will need moisture to activate.
