Splodger recently potted up some runners for me, saying they were currently dormantish, and would be raring to go come March, so I'd say yes, now they're dozing pot them up.

Yes, I'd move whilst dormant, if you can.

I shifted some of mine a couple of weeks ago and they don't seem to have died
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Does this also apply to strawbs being moved from a lovely wooden trough on the patio to the plot  :?:
I grew some at home last year and left them in situ, they seem very cosy even though it's been snowing here. I would like to transfer them upto my allotment but not sure when/if/what's best?

I'd be tempted to leave them in the trough at home, and then collect runners to take up the plot.  You'll get less bird and slug damage in a trough I imagine.

Besides, if you pick them at the allotment, they'll probably never reach home.

I did have some slug damage at home but not bird damage...I was inundated with flea beetle though, their grubs are probably still snoozing in the compost !!!

Is it ok to put strawb plants around my rasberry bushes on the plot.

Uncommon, might be under the feet for picking the raspberries, but then I'm not sure I understand you right, what do you mean in detail?

I'm newly registered here so Hello Everyone! We've just moved our strawberry plants to fill gaps and act as groundcover around raspberries, blackcurrants & redcurrants planted in a raised bed, especially as that end of our plot is heavy clay. Hope we've done the right thing, bit worried about strawberries not getting enough light in summer. Plants have survived move ok. Didn't let them flower last year so hoping for good crop. We use the word 'hope' alot on Planet 'Grow Your Own' don't we?!

Hi Pumpkin Queen, The plants may survive, but if you don't get enough sunlight, the fruit is not likely to ripen.  What makes you think there won't be enough light?  I wouldn't plant your strawberries directly under the fruit bushes (if this is the case) otherwise uou might find there'll also be competition for food, nutrients & water at root level and neither of them will do well.

Also, raspberries have a habit of sending new shoots up away from the main plant - you might end up with a raspberry cane growing through it  .  However, there is no reason why they can't all share the same bed if they all have plenty of space to spread out (you can net them all off together - blackbirds just love red fruit!!!!)
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Thanx. We'll just have to see how much shade other fruit casts, although they're very well spaced. One of reasons for moving strawbs was to be able to protect all fruit together. Blackbirds always get to our hanging basket strawberries at home before we do!

If it was possible, I'd plant the strawberries in their own little section at the sunniest side of this general fruit bed rather than interspersing them. As the others have mentioned, strawberry plant runners go in many directions and chance are you'd be unwittingly crushing the plants while picking the other taller berries.
Despite good original spacing, all my fruit bushes are now cheek to cheek with little light below, and strawberries are definitely light hungry.
