dose any one make simnel cake any more  :?:
i made one last year with all the marzipan love fruit cake .

I've made one, haven't marzipanned it yet though.  I've been having a discussion with my daughter re the number of balls on top of the cake.  It's supposed to have 11 for all of the diciples minus Judus, but do you not think that 2000 years is enough time to hate him and he should get his own marzipan ball?

I've put thirteen on mine for years now including one I entered in the village show and nobody said it was wrong.  I thought it was one for each of the disciples and one for Jesus.

yes I'm sure its 13 , 11 wouldn't bee enough marzipan , Easter is in late April this year and hubby is away at his reunion and visiting family ending up at Newcastle where the daughter has a list of jobs for him .

My mother taught me to make 12 balls (it's a lot easier to get them all the same size), then eat Judas as a cook's perk.

My Mum makes a mean 'boil and bake' fruit cake - when I find the recipe I'll post it.... it's yummy. :D
