I'm growing gooseberry bush in a pot Some leaves are going yellow at the bottom is this telling me something

I think that is just where the gooseberry has grown and is naturally shedding some of its leaves near the base and in the middle of it. 

As these leaves get shaded out by new growth, the gooseberry will cut its losses and ditch them.
